Conducted an awareness program on road safety

St. Ann’s College of Engineering and Technology, Chirala, conducted an awareness program on road safety, as stated in a joint announcement by the college secretary, Vanama Ramakrishna Rao, and correspondent, Srimantula Lakshmana Rao.

The college principal, Dr. K. Jagadish Babu, informed that the awareness program on road safety was organized under the guidance of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college. He mentioned that the chief guest for the event was Mohammad Moin, DSP, Chirala. Other attendees included Vetapalem Sub-Inspector M. Venkateswarlu and Chirala Circle Inspector P. Seshagiri Rao.

Speaking at the event, the principal, Dr. K. Jagadish Babu, emphasized that everyone traveling on the road should follow traffic rules and take necessary precautions to prevent accidents.

Vetapalem Sub-Inspector M. Venkateswarlu advised students against chasing vehicles while traveling on the road, highlighting that road dividers have been a cause of many deaths. Chirala Circle Inspector, P. Seshagiri Rao, stressed the importance of strictly following road safety rules and wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. He pointed out the severe consequences of road accidents and warned against driving under the influence of alcohol.

The chief guest, Mohammad Moin, DSP, Chirala, urged all two-wheeler riders to wear helmets and ensure they possess a valid license. He stated that losing a family member in an accident brings immense grief and suffering to their loved ones. He also emphasized the importance of providing immediate medical assistance to accident victims. He mentioned that excessive bleeding in road accidents leads to many fatalities and that recovering from injuries can cost lakhs of rupees, pushing families into financial distress. He advised against using mobile phones while driving and encouraged students to study hard, secure good jobs, and make their parents and society proud.

During the event, the students honored the chief guest, Mohammad Moin, along with the CI and SI, by presenting them with shawls. The National Service Scheme (NSS) Coordinator, Dr. D. Jyothi Swaroop, served as the convener of the program. The event was attended by the college’s Administrative Manager, R.V. Ramanamurthy, Physical Education Instructor Annam Srinivasa Rao, various department heads, faculty members, and students.
