International Women’s Day Celebrations – March 8, 2025 (Saturday)

St. Ann’s College of Engineering and Technology, Chirala, celebrated International Women’s Day with grandeur on March 8, 2025, under the auspices of the college’s Women Empowerment Cell. The event was jointly announced by the College Secretary Vanama Ramakrishna Rao and Correspondent Y.S. Lakshman Rao in a statement.

The distinguished guests for the event included Y.M. Sudha, Senior Civil Judge; Y.S.K. Rihana, Principal Junior Civil Judge; and Dr. K. Anita from Anita Hospital, Chirala, as informed by the Principal of the college, Dr. K. Jagadish Babu. On this occasion, the Principal expressed his wish for women to use the opportunities available in education, employment, and the industrial sector without gender discrimination, and to achieve high status and recognition in modern society. He emphasized that women today play a crucial role in all sectors and encouraged everyone to work towards women’s empowerment.

Dr. Anita, the Chief Guest, highlighted the growing mental health issues among modern women, such as depression, PCOD, obesity, high blood pressure, and joint pains. She mentioned that personal and professional challenges are leading to mental struggles for women. She urged women to pay attention to their health, adopt a healthy diet, and maintain both physical and mental well-being. She also emphasized the importance of making wise decisions on financial and family matters and urged women to serve as role models for future generations.

Y.S.K. Rihana, Principal Junior Civil Judge, shared that inspiration is crucial in students’ lives, and if they set a significant goal and dedicate themselves to it, they can achieve remarkable success.

Y.M. Sudha, Senior Civil Judge, spoke about how modern women should challenge societal inequalities and gender discrimination in today’s society. She encouraged women to take confident steps forward in life and act in ways that prevent violence against women. She urged women to be aware of the laws that protect them and to confidently take steps in society. She also advised women to live with patience and harmony, not wasting their potential, and to use their mobile phones responsibly and only when necessary. She emphasized that women should face life’s challenges with a harmonious attitude and prove that they can achieve anything.

Dr. G. Prasoon acted as the convener of the event. The college’s female staff members organized various cultural activities. The event saw participation from Dr. C. Subbarao, Director (AR&D); R.V. Ramana Murthy, Administrative Manager; various department heads; female teaching and non-teaching staff; and students.
