Road Safety Awareness Programme Conducted at St. Ann’s College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala



A Road Safety Awareness Programme was conducted for students at St. Ann’s College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala, on Thursday, January 22, 2026, according to a joint statement issued by College Secretary Mr. Vanama Ramakrishna Rao and College Correspondent Mr. Y. Lakshmana Rao.

On the occasion of the National Road Safety Month (January 1 to January 31, 2026), the programme was organized under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS) of the college, informed College Principal Dr. K. Jagadeesh Babu.

The programme was attended by Bapatla District Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Mr. T. K. Parandhama Reddy as the Chief Guest. Chirala Motor Vehicles Inspector Mr. B. Ramakrishna Reddy, Mr. B. Ravi Naik, Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, Mr. Raja Salman from Shadows Seva Organisation, and Dr. Narendra also attended as distinguished guests.

Addressing the students, RTO Mr. T. K. Parandhama Reddy emphasized that students must wear helmets compulsorily while riding two-wheelers and possess a valid driving licence. He advised against triple riding and over-speeding, stating that even minor mistakes while driving can lead to irreversible accidents.

Speaking on the occasion, Motor Vehicles Inspector Mr. B. Ramakrishna Reddy cautioned students not to drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol and urged them to strictly follow road safety rules.

Representing Shadows Seva Organisation, Mr. Raja Salman delivered a PowerPoint presentation to create awareness among students about road accidents. He displayed photographs of recent road accidents that occurred in and around Chirala and explained the causes in detail.

Dr. Narendra educated the students on how to perform CPR for accident victims and explained the precautions to be taken while administering first aid during emergencies.

On this occasion, RTO Mr. T. K. Parandhama Reddy administered the Road Safety Pledge to the students. The college management also conducted a felicitation programme to honour the RTO and other invited guests.

The programme was attended by Administrative Manager Mr. R. V. Ramana Murthy, NSS Coordinator Dr. D. Jyothi Swaroop, heads of various departments, faculty members, students, and college bus drivers.
