CATC–I NCC Training Camp Inaugurated at St. Ann’s College, Chirala



The Combined Annual Training Camp–I (CATC–I), organized under the aegis of the 23 Andhra Pradesh Battalion NCC, was inaugurated with great enthusiasm today at St. Ann’s College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala. Addressing the cadets during the opening ceremony, Camp Commandant Colonel Gopal Tripathi emphasized the vital role of NCC in shaping disciplined, patriotic, and responsible young citizens.

He stated that NCC training significantly contributes to developing leadership qualities, self-confidence, discipline, and a spirit of service among cadets. He encouraged all participants to make the best use of the training opportunities provided during the camp and strive for excellence.

Highlighting the importance of the camp, Colonel Tripathi noted that it serves as a crucial platform for the selection of cadets for the prestigious Thal Sainik Camp (TSC). He described TSC as one of the most esteemed NCC events in the country and urged cadets to actively participate in activities such as drill, map reading, tent pitching, obstacle training, firing, and other competitive events to showcase their abilities.

He further advised cadets to approach competitions with true sportsmanship, focusing not merely on winning or losing but on learning, teamwork, mutual cooperation, and discipline. He encouraged every cadet to give their best performance, as outstanding participants would have the opportunity to advance to higher-level selections for the Thal Sainik Camp. He also explained how NCC training helps build leadership skills, confidence, and dedication towards national service.

On the occasion, Deputy Camp Commandant Lieutenant Colonel N. S. Parmar briefed the cadets about the camp schedule and training modules. He informed them that the camp would include training sessions on drill, weapon training, map reading, field craft, personality development, leadership, sports, and cultural activities.

The inaugural function was attended by Subedar Major Ranveer Singh, Camp Adjutant Major Y. Anji Reddy, Lieutenant Medikonda Rajesh Babu, First Officers P. Suresh Babu and T. Venkateswarlu, Second Officer G. Gopinath, Training JCO Ravindra Singh, and BHM P. Ramesh. A large number of NCC cadets from various educational institutions participated enthusiastically in the opening ceremony, making the event a grand success.
