As part of the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC–I) being organized by the 23(A) Battalion NCC at St. Ann’s College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala, a firing training session was conducted on Wednesday. The training aimed to enhance the cadets’ shooting skills, which are an essential component of military training.
The firing practice was closely supervised by Camp Commandant Colonel Gopal Tripathi and Deputy Camp Commandant Lieutenant Colonel N.S. Parmar, who provided valuable guidance and instructions to both the staff and cadets. They emphasized that adherence to safety protocols, discipline, and accuracy in target shooting are vital qualities every cadet must develop.



Before the practical session, cadets were given detailed instructions on weapon handling, safety regulations, precautions during firing, aiming techniques, breathing control, and trigger control. Following the briefing, the cadets participated in a structured firing practice session at the firing range, where their skills and performance were assessed.
The training was conducted under the supervision of Subedar Major Ranveer Singh, Camp Adjutant Major Y. Anji Reddy, Training JCO Subedar Ravindra Singh, Associate NCC Officer Lieutenant Medikonda Rajesh Babu, BHM P. Ramesh, and Havildar Ramesh. Cadets participated with great enthusiasm and dedication.
Officials stated that cadets who demonstrated outstanding performance during the firing practice would be shortlisted to represent the 23rd Andhra Battalion in the Six-District Level Firing Selection Competitions scheduled to be held on June 19 and 21.
The officials further noted that firing training plays a crucial role in developing concentration, self-confidence, discipline, patience, and leadership qualities among cadets. They also informed that, as part of the camp, training programs on drill, map reading, field craft, personality development, and yoga are being conducted alongside other activities.
